"Eagle Eye" Movie Features Indianapolis – Not Really!

My wife and I went to a movie this evening and caught Shia LaBeouf, Michelle Monaghan, Billy Bob Thornton and Michael Chiklis in "Eagle Eye".

We took advantage of Kerasotes $5 Buck Club to catch this great movie at a great discount.

I’ve see a variety of movies of late starring Shia. Movies like Transformers, Disturbia, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and now Eagle Eye.

The theater got quite a kick out of the movie when the voice of the computer instructed Shia and Michelle to go to Indianapolis. The only problem was they didn’t even bother to actually film anything in Indianapolis it appeared. Actually it appeared they didn’t even bother to film scenes that even looked like they could be filmed in Indianapolis. They were supposedly at 56th and Van Buren and it appeared they were in a modern, downtown area. They got the 56th street right, and there is a Van Buren in Indianapolis, but I’m pretty sure they never cross. I can for certain say that 56th street doesn’t have a major downtown looking area anywhere near it.

The movie was suspenseful and action-packed for the most part, not quite as much as Transformers (awesome film!). Some kids got a little more action than they expected in the film. They seemed to think they can come to the theater and carry on a variety of conversations, loudly while they’re also busy texting and chatting on their cell phones.

After more than an hour I debated with my internal monologue for awhile on exactly how I’d tell them to be quiet. For a little while I thought about being nice and polite, which is most often my demeanor. However, I figured that if I did that they’d probably laugh and blow me off and probably talk more or louder. So… I leaned over and sternly and loudly stated, "KIDS! SHUT-IT!!!!".

It shocked a number of people in the theater, but more importantly they were mostly quiet for the rest of the movie so I could enjoy it. One of my pet peeves is talking during a movie or television show. Seems some other people don’t like it either as I got a few "Thank you’s" from other moviegoers.

What do you think? Would you do that? Did I over react? Have you seen the movie? What did you think of it?

  1. I also find it funny when they are supposed to be driving on I-70 or I-74 and there is a blue sign that says "welcome to Indianapolis" as the state line sign. HAHA

  2. I think you did the right thing. I can't stand it when people talk through out the movies! We just watched Eagle Eye (we live in Hawaii now,) but I knew they didn't film any part of the movie in Indy! The Japanese tour bus gave it away also.
    thanks,
    Chris

  3. not an overreaction. more people should speak up in such situations

  4. No, you didn't overreact. I've done it myself twice now in a theater. If I'm spending $50 on my kids to go see a movie, I'm going to tell people that are that rude to shut up.
