INDIANAPOLIS, IN (May 7, 2013) – The summer forecast is heating up! New Jersey rock icons Bon Jovi will bring an epic night of rock n’ roll to Klipsch Music Center in Indianapolis onTuesday, July 16, marking the band’s first return to Indianapolis since their 2003 Bounce Tour, and nearly 25 years since Bon Jovi helped open the Klipsch Music Center (formerly Deer Creek Music Center) when they performed during the venue’s very first concert season in 1989.

Reserved pavilion and Harrison College Lawn tickets, plus applicable fees, go on sale Monday, May 13 at 10:00 a.m. at the Taco Bell Box Office at Klipsch Music Center, Livenation.com, Ticketmaster, participating Wal-Mart locations, charge-by-phone at 800.745.3000 and Ticketmaster Express at 866.448.7849 (automated only self-service line). Tickets are subject to applicable service charges and event time and date are subject to change. Visit www.bonjovi.com for up-to-date information.

“BON JOVI Because We Can – The Tour” kicked off earlier this year and night after night, Bon Jovi has given show-stopping performances to packed arenas across North America.Billboard.com reported that “many thousands of fans that have already seen the ‘Because We Can’ tour have proven both the trek and the record are winners.” Arizona Republic raved, “It’s been 30 years since ‘Runaway,’ Bon Jovi’s breakthrough single, and the New Jersey rockers are still going strong.” The Cleveland Plain Dealer simply stated that if “you want to see a real band, get yourself a ticket to a Bon Jovi concert….Lead singer Bon Jovi is as dynamic a performer as there is,” and The Deseret News observed, “There are few bands left today that rose to prominence in the 80s that can still fill arenas and stadiums for a world tour. Bon Jovi is one of those bands.” The tour will head overseas in early May and will make its way back to the U.S. in July for the most highly anticipated stadium concerts of the summer.

WHAT ABOUT NOW is Bon Jovi’s 3rd consecutive studio album to enter at #1, following Lost Highway in 2007, and The Circle in 2009. With a focus towards the future, Bon Jovi is also offering fans an unprecedented interactive experience via the free BON JOVI APP at the heart of the WHAT ABOUT NOW album and tour. The mobile application ties together the newest Bon Jovi content and Augmented Reality (AR) software to bring the Bon Jovi experience to life through fans’ mobile devices. Once downloaded, open the Bon Jovi app, click on Augmented Reality and point your phone at the WHAT ABOUT NOW artwork wherever it appears, and see the album artwork come alive before your eyes.

Bon Jovi’s return to the road in 2013 launches the latest chapter in an ongoing blockbuster run which has secured their status as the essential live rock band—– having performed more than 2,700 concerts in over 50 countries for more than 35 million fans. “BON JOVI Because We Can – The Tour” will continue across North America, South Africa, Europe, Japan, Brazil, and Australia.

Whew! It’s been a whirlwind of a week for Papa, Jhaquiel and the rest of the Roux Croux. This story definite tripped the viral meter and has been heard all over the nation as well as internationally from places like Adelaide, Australia, the Ukraine, South Korea, Russia, Canada, the Philipines and plenty of other places.

Here’s an update straight from the Papa himself on where we hope things will continue moving forward in this story:

Hi there.
It’s Papa.

I’m currently sitting in a green room in Chicago, all made-up and primped, feeling very helpless and a little silly as The Roux and The Roux Croux gets pummeled 300 miles away.

I’ve got another TL;DR for you (Google it if you don’t know the term).

I’m thrilled that The Story has reached so many people. It’s become a Global Meme. But if you get the impression that somehow I’m a great humanitarian or that Jhaqueil is the poster boy for morals and ethics, you’re not only mistaken, but you’re also missing the real point.

This story is far beyond my control. I think we all know Who is in control here. The more than 50,000 cumulative likes, comments, shares, interviews, blogs, telephone calls, emails, letters, donations, offers, and even political cartoons show that Something Is Definitely Up. It’s heavy on my heart to make sure the right things happen next.

We’re going to get with an attorney soon and create a non-profit fund to Do Good While Treating People Well™. Obviously it’s only the tip of the iceberg, but something has to be done to keep the rickdiculous amount of goodwill in perspective and accounted for. Keep it coming, of course, but let’s get the focus where it should be, and that focus is FAR beyond the tiny facts of this story.

We received an email from a business owner in Bejing who was so moved by the story that he set out to find a Bejing youth who needs a job. He is now CREATING a position in his company for the sole purpose of hiring that youth.

Pause. Process that for a moment. I told a story (and you shared the story), a youth in Bejing is now gainfully employed as a direct result. NOT BECAUSE I HIRED JHAQUEIL. Because the community took a story and ran with it. Again… tip of the iceberg; let’s keep the momentum going and do FAR, far more.

While I’ve got your attention, I need to point out that as weird and fun as this week is for me and for Jhaqueil, it’s still a hardship for us and for many others. A first-world hardship, to be sure, but even so. I didn’t ask for this. Jhaqueil didn’t ask for the publicity, to be away from his family and alienated from The Roux Croux before he even put in hours. Nor did his family, my family, Mama Roux, my wonderful Roux Croux team, or the adoring fans who maintain this very page ask for the extra workload and stress (that’s right, I haven’t lifted a FINGER on it in all this time). I’ve instilled an immediate substantial raise to all Roux Croux members just to reward them for their kick-buttness (is that a word? It is now!). I didn’t ask for it to go this way, and it’s hard and yes even costly. But Someone wanted it to go this way, and I am but a vessel. A conduit, if you will.

YOU MUST UNDERSTAND THAT Without the above-mentioned people, there is no story. There is no Papa Roux. Without everyone behind the scenes getting dumped on all day every day, there is no Good being done through us. Yes. THROUGH us. Not BY us.

In many unseen ways, this one bizarre and random event is taking its toll on them, and I can tell from here it’s difficult to stay afloat. Persons or organizations who can offer charitable help with organization, marketing, legal… we need you. If yiou can help Mama Roux maintain the family and keep dinner happening after 15 hours days for us both… we need you. Some have already done so. More is needed. It sounds crazy and whiny even as I type it, but it’s very true. Please contact us privately at paparoux@gmail.com if you wish to Do Good While Treating People Well™.

Or yes, even the those who can help with rickdiculously crazy request of… “is there someone out there who can help us quickly grow into a newer, larger building on the east side?” And I do mean QUICKLY. We didn’t have enough room for enough employees and seats even before the cray hit, and we are on the verge of going under with this new surge. It’s a welcome and incredible and beneficial problem, but it’s STILL A PROBLEM.

Please remember to keep our backup singers in your thoughts and deeds. They’re actually the magic in this song. Papa is just a player piano, and we’ve all always known it.

PLAY ON! Share THIS post as far and wide as you dare. And when you do, YOU become a backup singer in a beautiful song.

Papa

There you have it! How are you going to move forward with this story on your own? What have you already done. We’d love to hear your comments. Be sure and “Like” the Papa Roux Po-Boys and Cajun Food Fan Page and share your story there as well.

Still reading?! Well good for you! Just saw this message from Papa…

This is not a drill. If you need work, listen up.

It’s tiring work. It’s fast-paced. We have no immediate openings in a cushy role (hell, we have NO cushy roles, open or otherwise!)

Do you want to bust hump alongside the best crew in town? Can you follow simple instructions, move quickly and deftly, and most importantly, do you enjoy hard work?

We’ll take you immediatey. You work the minute you arrive. These interviews will be on-the-job assessments. If you can clean a table and wash a dish, you’re in. If you can do more, you are in for more. Skill level determines pay. All positions offer the possibility (but not guarantee) of permanent hire. NO TELEPHONE CALLS. NO EMAILS. NO FACEBOOK REPLIES. Just show up. We have work and you get paid.

8950 E 10th Street, 46219. Hours of operation are Mon-Sat, 10:30a-8:00p. Work may be needed up to two hours before and two hours after, depending on the day. In the event that many respond, your information will at least be kept on file for a future need.

Ground floor opportunity! Show what you’re made of and become a part of this amazing team!

Many of you may be familiar with Papa Roux. It’s an east side cajun restaurant at 10th and Post Road operated by the “Papa”, Arthur, and the “Mama”, Colleen, and whole Croux of other great employees. You may have tasted his tremendous poboy sandwiches made with fresh seafood from Zirlott’s Gulf Products when they’re available. When they’re not available you’ll still have options with plenty of other meat ingredients and now get to choose on soft French bread or more of a crusty bagette if that’s your thing. Free side and sweet tea when you dine-in at the restaurant or now fresh, handcrafted sodas using real cane sugar that are out-of-this-world more delicious than big chain sodas.

What you may not have had the opportunity to really be familiar with is the actual man and woman that are Papa and Mama. You see, I’ve had the honor of knowing Papa on a personal level now for a number of years and getting to know his wife Colleen more and more. These two individuals truly are great people. If you follow both of them on Facebook you’ll get a closer look into their lives, but let me tell you that it’s still not the whole story. However, Papa had an update today that lays out all that is in what has become the Roux way.

If you’re not familiar with what a “roux” is, here you go:

roux: (noun) – A mixture of fat (usually butter) and flour used in making sauces.

A roux is the the base of many of the great dishes that are served at Papa Roux. One of the things about making a good roux, is you can’t just let it sit. You’ve got to actively work it. You’ve got to be involved in constant stirring and adjusting the mixture of ingredients so they blend into something that is more than the two ingredients and better than the ingredients are by themselves. I think this recipe has also become the base of just how life is done by the Roux family and crew. Except, it’s usually a mixture of love and hardwork blended together in making life special. There’s active involvement in the lives of others and paying close attention to the right mixture of ingredients.

UPDATE!

Here’s the video coverage of the story by Fox59 news. They did the best job of the major news stations, WRTV 6 completely ignored the story.

This is made evident in a post shared today by Papa.

So while I’m outside putting down massive quantities of ice melt, a young kid walked through the parking lot headed west. He asked me how far it was to 10th and Sherman.

I told him it was quite a way away. At least 6 or 7 miles. I suggested that he would be far better off on the bus then on foot, especially in all this ice and slush. He thanked me and continued on.

He could have asked me for money for a bus. In fact I quite expected him to. He didn’t. He just started walking.

15 minutes later, as we were driving down 10th street to head to Strange Brew, we saw him still waking down 10th. He was not yet to Franklin Road.

I told Colleen Roux to pull over, and I called to him to get in. As we were driving, we asked him about his journey.

Jhaquiel was walking from 42nd and Post to an interview at 10th and Sherman. For a potential (but not guaranteed) minimum-wage job. In this weather. Walking, because he couldn’t afford the bus. He had actually planned his time well and the interview was still 2 hours away.

We drove him to 10th and Sherman. He was extremely thankful and said so. I got his telephone number and told him to keep his interview, but I would see if there was a way to hire him, so his daily trek to work would be 3 miles instead of 10. I also asked him if he had eaten today, and he said he hadn’t. I gave him money for lunch and dropped him at the 10th and Sherman Dairy Queen. I think he was in shock.

So, he doesn’t know it yet, but he starts with us on Monday. It’s been a while since I’ve met someone so young with a work ethic like that!

And the next time somebody hands me a sob story about needing money for this or that, because they really want to make their lives better… I hope to be able to introduce them to Jhaquiel.

And that my Indianapolis friends is why I continue to support Papa and his business. Sure the food is terrific. But the people is where the magic is in this endeavor. I encourage you to do two things:

If you’ve not been to Papa Roux, go visit him. We’ll be going there again tonight. Support his business so he can continue to support his community.

Find other independent business owners like Papa who are trying to do more than just run their business, they’re trying to impact their community and change people’s lives.

If you’ve got a business you’ve found that others should support, let us know about them in the comments.

Now, you can enjoy this, you know, because all the cool kids are doing it!
