Football Fans… Start Your Engines
The football spirit is in top gear in the city of Indianapolis now. The Super Bowl Village and NFL Experience are officially open and coming around the 1st turn.
First if you’re visiting from out-of-town, WELCOME TO INDIANAPOLIS! Make yourself at home, unless that means sitting on the couch in your underwear, in that case, put some clothes on and come on out to the party.
Check-out that photo! Is that not the best! What better way to tie some of what Indianapolis is known for in with the NFL and the Super Bowl? A car for each team featuring their logo, colors and motif all rockin’ the Indy Car look of speed and craftsmanship.
As I made my way downtown to the City Market this morning I could already feel the energy surrounding the events that are going to be happening over the next week and a half in this wonderful city. As I left the City Market I noticed Monument Circle wasn’t completely blocked off so I headed that direction. I got a little bit of a view of the 30′ XLVI Roman numerals sitting on the Circle facing down Meridian. I also noticed there were a number of the Indy Food Trucks lined up on the northwest quadrant already serving some great food. There will be different rotations of food trucks each day in different shifts. What a great idea and option for football fans walking around the city.
The city is getting some positive press about how everything is going so far. Many people are already saying Indianapolis is going to be a great host city here, here and that we’ll be ready for anything. I’ll be interested in hearing this guy eat some of his words and hopefully issue an apology after the big game, but most of the commenters on his post have already set him straight on some of his inaccurate facts.
The Social Media Command Center has already been helpful to me as they answered my food truck question earlier this afternoon. My son has been begging me to take him to the food trucks, so I wanted to make sure they’d be around next Wednesday when our family will be heading downtown.
If you’re on Facebook or Twitter it’s almost a constant stream of all the fun people are having. If you’re curious, just follow some of these hashtags on Twitter: #SuperBowl46, #SuperBowl, #XLVI, #SuperBowlIndy, #Social46, #SuperIndy, #SB46, #SB2012, #SBVillage, #Super46.
Or you can of course follow some of these great friends and tweeps: @SuperBowl2012, @AroundIndy, @cjtheisen, @seppichdaily, @mooshinindy, @BgKahuna, @ChuckGose, @PeteThePlanner, @roundpeg, @NaptownBuzz and plenty more if you just watch those hashtags and tweets by everyone else.
I headed over to the Rock-Cola Cafe today for lunch to congratulate them, well more accurately to just fill my stomach with some more of their great food. Feel bad for my really close friends at Papa Roux (@PapaRoux) for not making it to the final two sandwiches, but love the support and excitement he’s been bringing to the city and the east side for all of this.
We’ll be seeing you around town I’m sure. Hit us up in the comments and let us know what you think of your experiences so far in the city. Whether your from here, or visiting from out-of-town. Let’s hear it!
Support Indianapolis and the East Side – All You Gotta Do Is Vote

Unless you’re visiting the website for the first time you know I’m a big fan of eating. I love supporting local restaurants and I’ve been pushing you to vote for my friends Papa Roux and Rock Cola Cafe in the Super 46 Sandwich contest. It’s down to the Final and you can still vote FOR both and not against either of them. I can’t explain what this means to both of these local businesses any better than how Papa has said it himself:
Please VOTE NOW for both PAPA ROUX and ROCK-COLA CAFE!
ACTION REQUESTED:
=================================
NATIONAL SUPER BOWL MEDIA COVERAGE OPPORTUNITY FOR INDIANAPOLIS EAST SIDE. YOUR ASSISTANCE NEEDED!
WHAT:
======
As you may know, the Super Bowl 46 Committee selected a number of East Side restaurants in their “Super46: Best Sandwich In Indiana” promotion, which initially included 46 sandwiches across the entire state.
TWO EAST SIDE FINALISTS REMAIN IN THE TOP 4.
WHY:
====
The committee just announced that the TOP 2 finalists will be involved in a National Media Promotion with TV and other media coverage, in the Super Bowl Village downtown, in which visitors to Indianapolis will be encouraged to try the sandwiches and cast a deciding vote.
Suddenly, this is no longer about sandwiches or restaurants or competitions. It is an opportunity to promote Indianapolis’ East Side in a positive light in the national spotlight. It is a chance to breathe life into the East Side economy, and make a positive and lasting change, while making history at the same time.
TWO GREAT EAST SIDE establishments in the final 4. In ALL OF INDIANA, the EAST SIDE OF INDIANAPOLIS has quite possibly the TWO BEST SANDWICHES. Think about that for a second.
And then think about this: Every visitor to the Indianapolis East Side spends money here. If we can promote our East Side on National TV for one restaurant, people will come out here and spend money. They’ll buy gas here. They’ll find Irvington. They’ll find homespun and Jockamo and Lazy Daze and Tie Dye Grill and The Legend and DuFour’s and more.
And that’s if we only get one restaurant in the finals. Imagine if we get two.
Our challenge becomes clear: secure spots for both Papa Roux and Rock-Cola in the Final 2 Bracket.
Imagine what it means to our East Side economy. These establishments alone EMPLOY OVER THIRTY EAST SIDERS, many from local schools such as SMHS and WCHS. This is their payroll. This is our economy, and it trickles to our property values, quality of life, quality of public service, schools, and more.
HOW:
====
Even if you have no interest in the sandwiches, restaurants, or competition, please take a moment to vote for East Side Pride.Of course, it doesn’t hurt that the sandwiches and restaurants are in fact great additions to our East Side, and are deserving of your support.
Please share this everywhere you can. Get this into the hands of every east side establishment, all of your friends, all of your relatives, and even a few complete strangers. Time is of the essence.
WHEN:
====
It is CRITICAL that we vote IMMEDIATELY. Voting ends early Friday morning, so please VOTE NOW. Do not wait for Friday morning.

Looking for a Job in Indianapolis
I recently posted a job opportunity from someone in my network. It was kind of a random thing, but I decided it might be a big help to someone that’s reading this post and looking for a position like I’ve posted.
If you’re reading this post you probably will fit into one of the following categories:
- looking for a job
- know of a job opportunity
- have a job
If you’re looking for a job, just click on the Indy Jobs category and you can review all of our posts. Since we’re just getting started, we don’t have many posts yet, so you’ll just want to check out Monster Jobs or the other non-Indy based career site. But that’s where the next group of people come in… those that know of a job opportunity.
Are you working somewhere that is looking to fill a position? Let us know, feel free to email us the job you want to list and we’ll post it for you, or you can complete this form and submit your own job listing straight to the site.
If you already have a job and are happily employed, then just let your friends know about these jobs.

Please VOTE NOW for both PAPA ROUX and ROCK-COLA CAFE!
